Drink Smoothies for Weight Loss

It probably is no surprise that many people these days are over weight and don’t know what to do with so many options available to lose that weight. Because most people want to get fast results a lot of them will opt to go to the gym. But soon they learn they do not know what to do or if it is even helping. They keep going to the gym but sooner or later they notice that it is not helping as quickly as they’d like and soon after quit. Sound familiar?

The gym is a good place to get healthy and stronger but not for fast weight loss though you should include exercise in your weight loss program whether at the gym or at home.

Healthy Eating

Strictly losing weight however, is about eating healthy and finding ways to do that without compromising satisfaction or taste.  That is a tough bill to fill, but not as hard as you may think either.

One of my favorite ways for keeping my weight under control is by keeping a balanced diet and replacing some meals with a satisfying and filling smoothie. The idea is to stay full without very many calories so you eat less, feel good and lose weight.

The Smoothie vs. Exercise

The weight loss shake is just like a normal meal in many ways but the only difference is this “meal” compared to many typical meals is it is healthy well balanced in nutrition and helps your body to burn fat. Smoothies are a well-known meal replacement for curbing your appetite and are also quite refreshing and nutritious drinks made with fruit, vegetables and other nutritious ingredients.

What most people don’t know is that you can shed more calories by drinking smoothies than you can by jogging or exercising.

Let’s look at this a little more closely:

A typical breakfast of 2 eggs, 1 slice of toast with jelly or jam, 2 slices of bacon and juice has 416 calories.

A weight loss smoothie can easily have less than 200 calories. A pound is made up of 3,500 calories. The “typical” breakfast we’ve outlined here eaten 7 days a week is 2,912 calories.  Drinking a smoothie for breakfast every day is cutting that in half. If you add a pound by consuming 3,500 calories the reverse is also true – you lose a pound by not consuming 3,500 calories.

In comparison you burn about 135 calories from running 1 mile.

Imagine if you replaced breakfast and lunch with a low calorie healthy, filling and satisfying smoothie how the weight would start to come off?!? A good plan to lose weight is to replace breakfast and lunch with a smoothie and eat a good healthy dinner. Cutting out pop and sweets is another big help!

First take ¼ cup of the mango cubes and put them in the blender, then add ¼ cup of ripe mashed avocado, add ½ cup of blended mango juice, ¼ fat free vanilla yogurt, the juice from 1 freshly squeezed lime, 1 scoop of Vega all plant protein powder (or whatever your favorite protein powder is) and 6 or so ice cubes. Put them all in the blender and blend well until they become very smooth. Drink and enjoy!

Blueberry Flaxseed Smoothie

First take one cup of plain frozen blueberries, then add one cup of skimmed milk, one table spoon of flaxseed cold-press organic oil and 1 scoop of Vega all plant protein powder (or whatever your favorite protein powder is). Put the blueberries in the blender first with the skimmed milk and blend then add the flaxseed oil. Blend the entire mixture together for two minutes then pour it to a glass and enjoy.  You can substitute the table spoon of flaxseed oil with ½ a cup of flax seeds if you prefer.

Blueberry and Vanilla Yogurt Smoothie
