The idea that you can lose an extreme amount of weight can be widely debated. And there is ample evidence that supports the idea that in most cases, this is not the best way to go about it. All of the conflicting thoughts, opinions, and yes… marketing messages may make you wonder about whether or not it really is a good idea to try to lose an extreme amount of weight. In this article, I will give my *opinion* and explain what I think is the best approach.
From my vantage point, the average woman looking to lose weight should not try and undertake an extreme weight loss regimen. Instead, developing a new way of eating and exercising so it becomes habitual is a much better option. The reason why I say this is for the simple fact that most women put on weight due to their habits. The habitual way that they go about eating and exercising has a direct correlation on the amount of weight that they gain.
Of course, there are many other factors that may be there as well. Hormonal changes can cause a gain in weight. If this may be the case, then this is an issue that you really need to take up with a qualified medical professional. That is where you are going to get the best and most reliable guidance on dealing with hormonal changes that may be the culprit.
Extreme Weight Loss Can Be Dangerous
One of the things that you need to consider is the possible dangers that can be associated with extreme weight loss. For example, one can begin a regimen of extreme weight loss and take it to the level of starving themselves, which can lead to developing a life long battle with eating disorders. Another danger of excessive weight loss is the loss of lots of muscle tissue, which is not something that you should take lightly at all.
What Is a Better Option Than Extreme Weight Loss?
In my opinion, the best option is to create a habitual way of life that not only helps you to lose the weight that you want to lose, but also helps you to keep it off, so that you don’t end up in that constant cycle of trying to lose weight and then putting it back on. There are many diet and exercise programs that DO help you create healthy new habits, but they tend to lack the flash that high weight loss diets have.
Of course, you have to decide which one is more important. Losing weight in a healthy way … or more weight loss with is short time which can have its consequences?
No one can make that choice except for you, but hopefully you will be able to see the powerful long term benefits of losing weight slowly but steadily, in a way that creates lasting results and habits that you can carry on for a lifetime.
