fat burning foods

Fat burning foods are an essential tool you can use to control or lose weight. First let’s look at why they are important.

In the United States, as I’m sure it’s probably the same in other developed countries, compulsive eating is a real problem that may not get the attention it deserves. Overeating is unhealthy because it is usually, if not always, eating when you are not hungry. This obviously leads to people becoming overweight.

For anyone who has a compulsive eating problem, it is not like they can just stop. It’s just not that simple or easy and it can become a very serious problem. People afflicted with it have what many would consider unnatural eating habits, compulsions and cravings.

They will use eating as a way to relieve bad feelings and to make them happy. Many who has not developed the ability to cope with daily life will often run to the refrigerator for relief, rather than deal with the problem. This vicious cycle is perpetuated because they are consumed with guilt over their overeating and self-loathing in many cases over their appearance.

Obesity is one of the greatest and preventable global threats to public health. The number of those who are over-weight have surpassed those who are under-weight for the first time in history. Health risks associated with being over-weight are metabolic, cardiovascular and oncological diseases, as well as orthopedic complications and psychiatric disturbances.

What Started Us on the Path to Overeating?

Table sugar has been ascribed as having some of the greatest potential for addictive properties. In the United States since many of us were children, table sugar for many years has been a staple in our everyday diet. This is the reason many people prefer sweet tasting food and this preference is enhanced when salt and fat are added.

The craving for sugar has created a capacity for abuse similar to other addictive drugs. A substance’s addictive potential is increased by its potency and by its rapid absorption into the bloodstream. As foods become more processed and altered by the producers, they begin to take on the properties of addictive drugs because of ingredients used to improve the taste.  Highly processed foods can have significant similarities with addictive drugs.
